Web Developer's Handbook

Came across this link, it's ridiculously awesome. If you think you have enough web dev reading you're wrong!! Broken out into categories, it features hundreds of websites for CSS, JavaScript, HTML, standard specs, tutorials, references and a lot more.

Keep it handy for when you're bored, pretty much everything there is a great read.

Latest Firefox build passes Acid2 test!

People are posting screenshots of Firefox development builds which pass the (in)famous Acid2 test from http://webstandards.org. The purpose of the test is to test for CSS2 support and error handling. Although Firefox releases have had full CSS2.1 support for some time, the way it handles malformed and invalid CSS was not completely straightened out until now.

Internet Explorer 7: Web Developer Troubles

I thought I would compile a list of problems I'm having with IE7. The objective here is not to flame, but to come up with a useful reference list for web developers transitioning and acclimating to Internet Explorer 7. My system is Windows XP SP2.

Browser Rendering Differences

IE7 Coming Soon

I noticed an article on the IEBlog mentioning that IE7 will be released this month. It sports improvements from IE6, but it is still Internet Explorer, and that means it needs the short bus special treatment. What does this mean for our clients?

A Standardista's Alphabet and Intro to ALA

I caught an entertaining read at A List Apart. It's a list of web-standards-related words from A to Z. It's written informatively, but with light-hearted sarcasm and wit for those readers all too familiar with the topics covered...Something I realized while reading it-- why is it an alt "tag?"

I'd say I straddle the line between the Lesser Standardista and Standistus argumentatavum maximus.

IE7.com - The home of Internet Explorer 7

It looks like someone was quicker than the software giant, and has managed to grab http://www.ie7.com/ and put it to some good use! If you're too lazy to click through, it's a giant Get Firefox advertisement.

Zeldman updates Designing with Web Standards

He's done it again. Jeffrey Zeldman has just released the second edition of his wildly popular book Designing With Web Standards. I already ordered my copy!!

Table Accessibility for Optimization

Note: this is intended for legitimate uses of an HTML table, NOT when using it to provide visual layout. When using a table for layout, stick with <table>, <tr>, and <td>, as using the elements below in an unintended manner will hurt more than help.

The Practicality of Perfect Compliance

I am a web standards geek. I am a novice, but I definitely try to do it the W3C way if it's possible. I feel it's made me a much better developer, having improved both the quality of my work and my understanding of the technologies as a whole. I write pretty clean markup, and go out of my way to separate the various layers of a web page.

Opera 9 Passes the Acid2

The team of developers making the Opera Web Browser can (at least for now) rest easy on the fact that their product supports modern web standards to a superior degree. Opera 9 RC has had it nailed down for some time, but this is their first public Opera release passing the Acid2. As of this writing it is 9.0 beta.
